Deadwood’s go-to spa is Deadwood Day Spa on historic Sherman Street, with massage packages, infrared and steam saunas and a salt room a block off Main Street. Within an easy drive you’ll also find full-service day spas in Rapid City and natural mineral springs in Hot Springs, so spas in Deadwood and the surrounding Black Hills fit into any trip, especially when the weather turns.
This guide covers where to go, what each spot does best, and how to plan the day around the rest of your getaway. It’s part of our guide to indoor activities in the Black Hills.

Where to Go for a Spa Day
Spas in Deadwood
Right in town, a block off Main Street and a short walk from many of our Deadwood vacation rentals.

Deadwood Day Spa
A small, locally run spa in a historic building a block off Main Street. Sessions pair a massage with time in the infrared and steam saunas, the salt room and the O2 bar, so plan on at least two hours. Custom packages are available, and the spa partners with The Landmark Hotel & Casino a few steps away.
Best For: Couples and friends staying in town who want a spa afternoon without getting in the car.
Location: 93 Sherman Street, Deadwood
Hours: Thursday and Friday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Booking: Online or by phone at 605-578-3999
Local Tip: The historic building has small treatment rooms with one table each, so couples are massaged in separate rooms and share the saunas afterward.
Day Spas in Rapid City
About 45 minutes from Deadwood, Rapid City has the widest choice of full-service spas in the Black Hills.

The Body Spa & Cryotherapy
A recovery-focused spa offering relaxation, sports and deep tissue massage alongside full-body cryotherapy, infrared and steam saunas, a red light pod and Normatec compression. It bills itself as the longest-running cryo spa in South Dakota.
Best For: Hikers, bikers and skiers who want sore muscles worked out, not just pampered.
Location: 405 Sturgis Street, Rapid City
Hours: By appointment, booked online or at (605) 391-1678
Local Tip: Online booking takes one service at a time, so call to stack a massage and a sauna session back to back.

Mystique Edge Day Spa & Salon
A downtown Rapid City spa and salon open since 1999, with facials, therapeutic massage, nails and hair under one roof. It’s also a certified Green Circle Salon.
Best For: Getting ready for a wedding, anniversary or night out, with hair and nails in the same visit.
Location: Downtown Rapid City
Hours: By appointment, booked online
Local Tip: Pricing is tiered by team member level, so booking with a newer stylist or therapist saves a few dollars per service.
Mineral Springs in Hot Springs
About 90 minutes south of Deadwood, Hot Springs has drawn soakers to its warm mineral water since the 1890s. Learn more in our Hot Springs town guide.

Moccasin Springs Natural Mineral Spa
Six outdoor pools fed by natural mineral springs that have flowed for more than 140 years, ranging from about 80 to 105 degrees. The spa also offers massage and a 3-in-1 infrared sauna, and it’s built into the ruins of the 1890 Minnekahta Bathhouse, restored after the pools sat closed for decades.
Best For: A slow day of soaking, especially in the cooler months.
Location: 1829 Minnekahta Avenue, Hot Springs
Hours: Wednesday to Sunday, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. June through August and 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. September through May. Closed Monday and Tuesday.
Local Tip: Book your soak online before making the drive, then round out the day at the Mammoth Site or Wind Cave National Park, both close by.

Evans Plunge
The oldest attraction in the Black Hills, open since 1890, with pools fed by a natural 87-degree thermal spring. Two hot tubs, a sauna and a steam room sit alongside slides and kids’ pools, so the whole family gets something out of it.
Best For: Families who want warm water and a few slides on a cold day.
Location: 1145 North River Street, Hot Springs
Hours: Open six days a week, closed Tuesdays
Local Tip: Evans Plunge and Moccasin Springs are both in town, so a family can split the day: kids on the slides, adults in the mineral pools.
Tips for a Black Hills Spa Day
01
Book ahead
These are small spas, and summer weekends and rally week fill up first.
02
Go after your big day
A massage after a long hike or ski day does more than one before it.
03
Pack a swimsuit
You’ll need one for the mineral pools and some sauna rooms.
04
Think off-season
Fall through spring is prime spa weather, with quieter calendars than summer.

Pair a Spa Day with Your Stay
The relaxing doesn’t have to stop when you leave the spa. Many Deadwood Connections homes have a private hot tub, so you can end the day soaking under the pines and the stars.
